R1-Candleholder

The original of this 14th century item was excavated from the Thames foreshore in London and is now in the Museum of London. During the 14th century, pewter was still a material of great value, the ownership of which would have been restricted to those of relatively high status. To date a number of this type of candleholder have been found, both in pewter and brass. The stem of this replica is cast hollow, as on the original; allowing the rough casting to be mounted on a lathe for finishing.

Made under licence from the Museum Of London.

14th century.

100mm high.
